Located in the Municipality of Macul, Santiago, the Winery Buildings and Underground Cellar of Viña Santa Carolina were built in successive stages between 1877 and 1898. Today, these buildings are considered one of the country’s most representative commercial agricultural constructions of their time.
Outside, the buildings have wooden roofs insulated with a layer of mud laid over with Chilean tile. The underground cellar is constructed under the western hall, and is a simple vault with a three-centered arch. It has beveled stone walls, a brick vault and rammed earth floor.
The 131 years of history housed in the Winery Buildings and Underground Cellar of Viña Santa Carolina led the Government of Chile to declare the site an Historic National Monument in 1973.
